It all began one evening on Zillow.

Like most people, we spent much of 2020 stuck inside dreaming of bigger spaces with yards. Zillow became an escape, a way to look at homes and dream. We had a great place and weren’t really looking to move, but it’s still fun to browse! One Friday in July I saw this house and was blown away and saw there was an open house 2 days later.

So that Sunday we pulled up to the house but there was sign on the door. The open house had been cancelled, presumably it was already sold. So we looked around outside (the gate to the courtyard was open, don’t worry) and then we got in the car and left. Oh well, maybe some day.

Then four months later, I got a Zillow notification that the status of one of my saved homes had changed and it was this house! I emailed the realtor that night to see if there would be another open house. He said no, that it wasn’t under contract but it wasn’t on the market either, but he could show us the home the next day. So within 14 hours of that Zillow alert, we pulled into the driveway and went inside our home for the first time. We immediately fell in love.

Turns out the previous contract had fallen through and that was actually the second contract to fall through, so the seller wasn’t even sure he wanted to put it back on the market. But after some discussions, the realtor agreed to at least present the offer

We put in an offer, the following day, and the next day we were under contract! To say closing a jumbo loan in a month was stressful would be an understatement. But it was worth the anxiety! We closed end of December 2020 and moved in in February of 2021.

3 years later and we still love it here.
